Vancouver artist Dana Johnson has a background in fashion design and teaching and has studied painting at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. She has travelled extensively and these experiences have influenced much of her work.
She has participated in many group shows, had gallery representation and is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work can be seen in private and corporate collections in B.C., Alberta and Ontario.
With a recent switch to oils from acrylic, she has been focusing on familiar subjects and some new. She has delved into exploring fashion history up close in her historical shoes and vintage garment paintings.
Her small crow paintings have been inspired by the many crows she encounters on her daily city walks. They are painted with soft brush strokes and given character.
The landscapes are inspired by exploring nature locally and afar. From local British Columbia scenes to Italian Vistas, they are painted with movement and softness.
