Edge of Light

Gaye Adams was born in Saskatchewan and moved with her family to British Columbia's Lower Mainland in 1972. She has been drawing and painting since childhood; her early talent was evidenced by the receipt of several scholarships to advance her skills.

She continued her art studies at Kwantlen College for two years before embarking on her own path of self expression.

Sunset Sentenils

The artist's preferred medium is soft pastel:

"I find pastel to be such a satisfying medium - the fresh, direct nature of soft pastel appeals to me, and its versatility is incredible."

Gaye is a signature member of the Pastel Society of Canada and the Federation of Canadian Artists.

Early Morning in Grinrod

Subject matter of paintings is diverse, as Gaye paints what inspires her, which is often light, colour, pattern or atmosphere.

"I think that these elements are more important than subject matter. In fact, for me they are the subject matter."

A Lot of Bull

Gaye enjoys teaching and has often conducted pastel workshops; as well, she has received numerous awards at juried shows throughout Canada. She is now enjoying a growing demand for her commissioned works.

Her paintings hang in private collections across Canada and the United States.
