After immigrating to Canada from Czechoslovakia Dana worked as an architect for several years before starting her textile business ‘Artacious’, which concentrated on the design and production of painted silk art fabrics and artwear. She was running this art business for 20 years from Toronto, selling across Canada and United States, with even a few stores buying her products in Mexico, England and Japan. Since moving to Alberta in 1997, Dana has concentrated on fine art working in acrylics, mixed media and textiles.

Dana exhibits with the Federation of Canadian Artists, Alberta Society of Artists, Alberta Craft Council, Ontario Craft Council, Elevation 1309 and Odin Gallery. Every year Dana participates in several traveling exhibitions and has won many awards for her art.

“In my paintings I strive to express the power of nature and my memories, emotions and feelings which I have while hiking, scrambling, skiing and backpacking in the Canadian Rockies, where I reside.

The weather in the mountains is quite unpredictable; sometimes you can get all four seasons in a single day. And with it of course come dramatic variations in light and visibility. The view can be obscured by cloud one minute and brightly highlighted by sun the next one. I think the weather gives my landscape paintings the main atmosphere.”
