A love for flowers and passion for creative expression originally ignited Judy’s desire to paint. As is often the case with late bloomers, Judy has a voracious appetite for her passion and can be found painting late in the evening or during the pre-dawn hours.
Born in Germany, and raised on the prairies, Judy presently lives and works on the Sunshine Coast, BC, a 40-minute ferry ride from Vancouver. While there is an openness and sense of freedom to the prairies that is sometimes missed, today you may glimpse Judy happily walking along the forest trails or beside the ocean in search of her muse. Judy is basically self-taught, and credits any success she may have to her extensive reference library that allows her to receive instruction by many talented artists without leaving her home. An avid gardener, Judy’s favorite subjects include anything floral, as well as figurative, animal and portraiture. Although oil is her preferred medium, she also experiments in acrylic and watercolour. Judy is a member of the Sunshine Coast Artists Co-operative (Gibsons Landing Gallery), Gibsons, BC, the Federation of Canadian Artists, Vancouver, BC, and the Sunshine Coast Cultural Alliance. One of Judy’s paintings has recently been published in the book “How to Paint Flowers and Gardens”, published by International Artist. Judy has been exhibiting her work in solo and group exhibits since 2001. Judy also teaches workshops and welcomes commissioned work.
