Artist's Biography

Zahra Hosseinkhan is a renowned professional artist born in Tehran, Iran In 1971. Her passion for visual arts started at a very young age of twelve. Her skill was already peaking to professional level and she was encouraged to pursue her studies at the Art College of Tehran. There she had the good fortune of being one of a select few to study under three Iran's master painters in different area and media to ensure a fundamental understanding of the methods and practice of highly realistic and surrealistic oil painting, water colour, pencil drawing and pen and ink. All three Masters guided Ms. Hosseinkhan, along a path to technical brilliance in all the fundamental elements of painting and drawing.

Soon after, Zahra's private tutelage and courses were complete, she was encouraged to continue her artistic pursuit as a teacher and gallery owner. Ms. Hosseinkhan was selected for the public school system's tutored art program and soon become its featured artist. It came as no surprise when on her 21 st birthday, she also celebrated the grand opening of her own gallery and art academy in her hometown of Tehran. There she concentrated on the teaching and selling original art. Ms. Hosseinkhan has been teaching since then for over 10 years.

In 1996, Ms. Hosseinkhan immigrated to Canada and deeply touched by the natural beauty of British Columbia, she chose Vancouver as a permanent place to live and pursue her artistic career.

Since 1988, Ms. Hosseinkhan has sold and exhibited works at various venues. Most of her earlier works reside in Iran as a result of her successful 5-year gallery venture. Also in 1998 she joined the ZAHRA]EET School of Fine Art in Burnaby, B.C. as Director and Vice President.

In 2002 Ms. Hosseinkhan wrote a book about human anatomy and also how to paint and draw human figures in pencil drawing (conte). She has been dedicating her many years studying & experiencing the knowledge and technical studies of art to this book, which will be published in the summer of 2003. Ms Hosseinkhan is renowned in pencil drawing (figures).

Zahra Hosseinkhan has produced an expensive collection of paintings in oil, watercolour, pencil drawing, and acrylic, which far exceeds the standard amount and expectation of many local and international art critics.

In 2003 she incorporated Canadian Academy of Fine Art & Design a newly formed organization for helping, inspiring and educating new amateur artists and students in Vancouver, BC. In 2003 Ms. Hosseinkham became an artist in CPA "Family of Artists" and became an active member of Devon Publishing Group, one of the largest publishing houses in the world. Her art work is represented through them as an open edition prints to all over the world. Ms. Hosseinkhan has received several awards of recognition and excellence form the local, provincial and federal governments.
