Farmland I |
Caroline was born on the south coast of Wales in sight of a dramatic Atlantic coastline. She was delighted to find similar beauty and drama on the Pacific coast when she moved to Victoria, BC in 1992. While she had a childhood passion for rocks and old stonework, she is drawn to all forms of nature in this beautiful country of British Columbia and is captivated by the strong lights and shadows around her. Caroline has a growing collection of works in private homes in Victoria, England and Wales, has shown her work in several group art shows, and has painted several commissions. She is currently serving on the executive of the Victoria Chapter of the Federation of Artists, with whom she has her Active Status.

Artist's StatementI paint for the joy of it. My work is for the most part representational, and while the medium of watercolour is my first love, acrylics are a close second. The light on this lovely west coast is in almost constant motion, and I am fascinated by the ever-changing shadow shapes. I am also intrigued by those resting moments, the tranquil space between activities, and try to capture that fleeting calm in my paintings.
