Artist's
Statement
Reflecting
upon my childhood years on the prairies, with its vast and lonely
landscape, I still feel connected with that environment which I had
translated into my first drawings.
The creative spirit spoke to me in those years in a very small voice
which never ceased to grow as time passed. It demanded greater expression
over the years but I refused to hear it clearly until my children
left the nest.
Subconsciously my artistic talents surfaced in my flower gardens giving
me subject matter for when I became a serious painter. The tenacious
vigor the plants possessed taught me about my own nature and the strong
need to catch their spirit began to drive me. I now realize this is
a very difficult life-long journey with many disappointments but small
victories keep me at my easel.
The desire to capture the life force in all my paintings has become
my main focus and I hope they speak to people at a very deep emotional
level.
