Artist's Statement

Quite simply, my work is inspired by paint—especially the exciting and infinite possibilities of  the experimental properties of acrylic paint. Painting has been a constant  in my life; my environment has not. A native of British Columbia I have completed the circle by returning to the  Northwest  after living in more than a dozen cities across the US and Canada—definitely an educational experience.  My arts education  began in childhood with Saturday morning classes at the Vancouver Art Gallery, continued formally in Fine Arts at Metropolitan State College in Denver, CO. and has been ongoing through workshops sponsored by regional and national organizations such as the FCA.  In addition, I enjoy teaching basic workshops in experimental watermedia and design.

I think and paint in such a way that I will probably always rely on my intuition and mind’s eye, but I continue to search for a balance between the cognitive and the intuitive—in both my art and my life.  My goals are never to stop exploring, growing, and sharing, and painting is the perfect vehicle for the journey!
