DON FARRELL, SFCA, RI, RBA A native of Vancouver, B.C., DON FARRELL, SFCA, RI, RBA specializes in watercolour, gouache and egg tempera. Mainly self-taught, the artist develops his compositions through pencil drawings. Farrell became the first Canadian elected as a full member of The Royal Society of British Artists, and at both the 1992 and 1993 RBA exhibitions, he received their top prize. Before being elected as a full member (one of less than sixty) of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, he was a recipient of their Bronze medal. Farrell was elected to signature status of the FCA in 1989, his works hang in H.R.H., The Prince of Wales collections, and he is listed in "Whos Who in Art in Britain". Farrells work is particularly strong in design, using motifs, shapes and parallel lines to create rhythms and determine eye movements. The interplay between emotion and rational appeal is a fascinating pursuit, ongoing, never ending, evolving. |
