RICHARD S. MCDIARMID, SFCA Since 1972, painting has been an integral part of the daily activities of RICHARD S. MCDIARMID, SFCA. Extensive international travel has provided a rich backdrop of material as well as inspiration for his work. Born in Vancouver, McDiarmid spent many years as a professional engineer in mechanical design and drawing. He is largely self-taught in art, working in oils, watercolour, acrylics and monotypes. Artistic perception and creativity have been greatly enhanced by study with international artists. His paintings include both representational and non-representational impressions taken from his rich library of experience. McDiarmid has earned his senior signature status with the FCA, received numerous awards in juried shows, and his paintings have been included in an exhibition by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. A sought-after painting teacher, he serves the FCA as First Vice-President. |
