PATRICIA PEACOCK, SFCA PATRICIA PEACOCK, SFCA is of Icelandic descent and grew up in Gimli, Manitoba, an early Icelandic settlement. Peacocks heritage has had an important influence in her art, and in 1996 she was chosen to be the Heritage Canada Artist of the Year, with her poster depicting the Nordic contributions to Canada being distributed to elementary schools around the country. She has also painted book covers, illustrated books, won many awards and recently received her senior signature status with the FCA. Her Icelandic heritage paintings as well as her mixed media collages and abstract designs are extremely popular. Hints of mythological symbols, sagas and history are quite evident in most of Peacocks paintings. Many of her mysterious collages contain rare "found" pieces. As well, Peacock has become very accomplished in creating special commissions for corporations and cultural organizations. |
