STAFFORD PLANT, SFCA (Deceased) As one critic said of him, "STAFFORD PLANT, SFCA is an experimental artist whose works range from realistic to a highly stylized semi-abstract view of nature. He straddles with relative ease that invisible line between commercial art and the painting of sensitive canvases". Plant finds it almost impossible to maintain a continuing interest in any one style or theme, but believes that his love of "le grande air" is reflected in his work. Art and design have been vocation and avocation for the greater part of Plants life. He has been involved in graphic and structural design, sales promotion and advertising and, following his discharge from the Canadian army as Lieutenant, he attended UBC and later opened his own design studio. Plant was a founding member of the Toronto Arts Club, has had numerous "one-man" shows, has participated in international exhibitions and is an honourary signature member of the FCA. |
