February 6 - 18 Artists' Choice

Artists’ Choice is your chance to exhibit artworks without the set restriction of theme or style.

February 20 – March 4 Canvas Unbound

Contest the idea that unframed artwork is ‘incomplete’ or ‘unfinished’.  

March 6 - 17 Abstracted

Abstraction abandons representation of the external reality.


Instead, it communicates through the visual language of colour, point, space, shape, line and form.

March 20 - April 1 Success!  Portfolio displays from our successful applicants to Signature Status
April 3 - 15 Bloom

Submit all your buds, blooms and petals! Open to foliage, trees, shrubbery, bushes, mosses and grasses. 

April 17 - 29 Aquarelle et Pastel Artists are offered the entire gallery to explore the breadth of both mediums.
May 1 - May 13 Wildlife Canadians have an identity deeply rooted in nature, cultivated by a fascination and respect for our wild animals. 
May 1 - July 31 FCA Online Postcard Competition Award winning artists in this online exhibition have their work produced and sold as postcards in the Federation Gallery
May 15 - 27 Go Figure! This exhibition adds to the history of figurative representation. Documenting humanity is no easy task, go figure!
May 29 - June 10  AIMAE 2018 We present an entire show of artwork delivered in envelopes. This is our international exhibition with low shipping costs, and $2000 in cash prizes!
June 11 - 24, Landscapes Artists divided by country, culture or time have always been united in their love for and unique expression of their favourite landscape. Successful submissions will transport the viewer to a different place. 
June 25 - July 8 O Canada! Showcase your unique take on what being Canadian means! This exhibition will display over two weeks, coinciding with Canada Day celebrations. 
July 9 - 29 POTE 2018

Each year this exhibition encourages artists to challenge themselves in their current practice and get out of their artistic comfort zones. Successful artwork will articulate bold experimentation and innovation.

July 30 - August 12 Summer Showcase We have no limitation on theme or subject - only the strongest works are exhibited in this testament to talent and collection of compulsion. 
August 1 - October 31 LIMITLESS Online Exhibition A portion of all submissions also assists in the creation of a $1,000 bursary for a student working towards a Visual Art Bachelor of Fine Arts from Simon Fraser University.
August 13 - 26 Small, Smaller and Smallest Good things come in small packages! Smaller, Smaller, Smallest has proven that year after year to be one of our best-selling exhibitions. 
August 27 - September 9 Scenes from Western Canada There is no shortage of inspiration from the environment in western Canada. We are spoilt for our natural bounty; our beautiful farms, parks, and vineyards. 
September 11 -23 Concept

Going beyond the illusion of painting, Concept focuses on the message, notions and stories conveyed through an artists’ media. Members are challenged to say a thousand meaningful words. 

September 25 -  October 7  BIMPE X The Biennial International Miniature Print Exhibition
October 9 - 28 AIRE 2018

This international competition brings forward some of the highest levels of detail, suspending belief that these works are created by the human hand.

October 30 - November 11 Shape and Form

Partnering with the Sculptors' Society of BC, the FCA partners the third-dimensional art form with our two-dimensional illusions of space. "Shape and Form" investigates the usage of space as a design element across art forms. 

Nov 1 - Dec 31 365: Online Exhibition and Calendar Our annual online exhibition and calendar project invites artists to compete for cash prizes and a feature in the 2019 print calendar.
November 12 - 18 Ten Squared - S, M, L

Ten Squared is the annual fundraising exhibition for the Federation of Canadian Artists. In this non-juried exhibition artists are invited to submit pieces that are exactly 10” x 10”. 

Nov 20 - December 2 AFCA Signature Medal Exhibition

AFCA members are encouraged to submit their strongest artwork to compete for the coveted FCA medals. AFCA medals will be awarded in bronze, silver and gold. 

December 4 - 23 SFCA Signature Medal Exhibition

Our highest level of artistic membership is displayed in their own exhibition. Our entire gallery is dedicated to a competition between esteemed members as they compete for the coveted FCA medals. SFCA medals will be awarded in bronze, silver and gold.
