The Federation of Canadian Artists is a nonprofit, charitable visual arts organization, founded in 1941 by members of the Group of Seven. We are committed to the visual arts community! Today, with over 2,800 members across Canada, we support emerging and established artists throughout Canada. From our permanent gallery location on Granville Island, we host between 18 to 20 exhibitions annually, which are free for the public to enjoy!

We also help the careers of artists by creating sales networking and educational opportunities across a variety of platforms, and at various locations, both in person and virtually.

Job Description: The Federation of Canadian Artists is looking for someone to join our team as our Art Handler/Shipper! As Art Handler/Shipper you will care for artwork as it makes its way through its journey within our gallery from receiving the art to displaying it to shipping it onwards! We are a supportive team of 10 people; however you will be working particularly closely with the Sales Team and reporting to the Gallery Manager.

Responsibilities:

The following offers insight into the responsibilities of this job:

1. Maintenance: Maintain gallery, office, classroom, and studio spaces, including repairs, cleaning, equipment movement, and painting.

2. Inventory Management: Manage the art and shipping inventories, maintain records, and recycle excess packaging.

3. Artwork Handling: Unpack, handle, store, and retrieve artwork with care to prevent damage.

4. Logistics Coordination: Inform Gallery Manager of deliveries, ensure timely art collection and shipping.

5. Artwork Preparation: Prepare artwork for display, including minor repairs, framing, labeling, and mounting.

You have previous experience in shipping. You will be a flexible team player who manages their time and can solve problems – of a technical or organizational sort.
