Mini Residencies
Mini-Residencies at the
Federation of Canadian Artists!
Mini Residencies with the Federation of Canadian Artists are your opportunity to get your artwork seen by the public on Granville Island during the busy summer tourist months.
Active and Signature members of the Federation are invited to give casual demonstrations and / or work on pieces for visitors to the Federation Gallery to enjoy.
Artists can use the gallery space as a temporary studio. Given a table, chair and easel, artists can set up and paint the day away from beautiful Granville Island.
Each participating artist can bring small artworks and a selection of art cards to sell for the duration of their residency.
During residency, the FCA retains 35% commission on any sales made of pieces brought to sell by artists during their residency and FCA staff are happy to process all sales on your behalf, so no need to worry about cash floats, receiving payments or guiding clients through the sales. We also will create an online gallery for you residency, viewable at federationgallery.com
Previous participating artists have utilized this opportunity to engage with potential clients through discussions with visitors and hands-on demonstrations, and to promote themselves using visual displays and business cards.
To book space:
- Booking is free, there are no costs associated with this opportunity
-
This opportunity is voluntary, artists must arrange their own transportation/parking
-
To participate artists must be either Active or Signature members of the FCA in good standing
- Artists must submit details of their plan via email along with the artworks they will be working on, and desired dates to the FCA by the deadline (stated below) and we will review and select which members may participate
-
Artists are asked to be present at the gallery between 10 AM – 5 PM on Saturdays and 10 AM - 3 PM on Sundays of their residency
-
Artists can paint in pairings with an Active or Signature FCA friend
-
We will provide a 4ft x 2ft table per artist to work on (no bigger tables allowed so bear this in mind when considering the piece you’ll be working on or the method you’ll be using)
-
Artists can bring their own easel or we can provide one easel in addition to the table
-
Artists must not obstruct the flow of gallery traffic
-
Artists can bring small artworks, along with a variety of art cards for sale
