'The Last Stand' evokes both the enormity of old growth Cedar and the somber stance of the Roosevelt Elk. The entanglement is with 'FALLING BOUNDARY' tape, used to define active logging areas. Vancouver Island's largest forest mammal, the Roosevelt Elk is SARA Blue listed - 'at risk'.

The viewer is invited to ask, to 'who's last stand' are we witness.

Softly integrated texture with strong overlays. Color within line defines space, creates balance and explores mood. Both subjects intentionally exceed boundary of painting. Wildlife genre is explored.
