This image features a sunrise over the Sleeping Giant which is called Nanabijou in many First Nation's legends. Thunder Bay, Ontario, formerly Fort William and Port Arthur, demonstrates its history by the two words fort and port. As a fort, the city was key to exploration and the fur trade. It was later the most inland port in the Great Lakes connecting the east to the west which is key to the ideology and unity of the Confederation. The seaways connected all of Canada to the rest of the world. Home is where my heart is, our family home, my home town of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. This piece is dedicated to my grandparents Ralph and Emma Chandler.
