Young ballerinas get ready backstage

“The Rehearsal” was inspired by a precious moment at our local rec centre. Accessible and welcoming to all, our rec centre is the true hub of our community and this day was no different. Young girls, from all walks of life and with varied backgrounds, were united in their excitement as they prepared for their final performance for parents, siblings, and grandparents. The space was filled with a flurry of pinks and blues and nervous giggles.

The loose brushwork and vibrant colour of “The Rehearsal” captures the life and vitality of this community space and the constant movement and energy found within it.

We are privileged to live in this wonderful place where kids and adults alike can enjoy such easy access to arts, education, and recreation - nurturing community spirit in our public spaces.

This truly is a celebration of Canadian spirit.
