Federation Retreat 2024 - Bamfield Wait List
Cost: Free2024 Federation Retreat at Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre
DATES: Sunday - Friday, September 8-13th
The Federation Retreat is the largest educational and social event of the year, hosted by the Federation of Canadian Artists.
The 2024 Retreat takes place in beautiful Bamfield, British Columbia. Based at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre, you'll experience some of the most breathtaking plein air painting locations the West Coast has to offer.
In the company of our Master Instructors you'll spend your days creating, painting and developing your skills, while painting en plein air. In the evenings, you'll have the opportunity to join your peers for a variety of fun socially distant social events or take the time to relax and explore your surroundings.

FEES ARE INCLUSIVE OF:
- 4 days of instruction with the chance to paint with each Master Instructor
- All evening social activities
- 3 meals and all snacks daily - for the duration of your stay either in a socially distant communal setting
- 5 nights accommodation
- 1 goodie bag per artist registrant
Please note:
1. Terrain Considerations:
Our surroundings boast scenic landscapes with hills that add to the charm of our walks. However, it's important to note that certain paths, such as the one leading to Brady's Beach (a picturesque 30-minute walk), involve both inclines and declines. Additionally, accessing the boat dock at Bamfield requires navigating a steep hill. For individuals with knee problems or other health concerns related to walking in hilly areas, we recommend evaluating your comfort level before signing up for the Federation Retreat.
2. Road Conditions:
Another aspect to be aware of is the 80km logging road connecting Port Alberni and Bamfield. Despite recent improvements, it's crucial to highlight that this road remains unpaved. Smaller or low-clearance vehicles, especially those designed for city driving, may struggle on this road. Participants should assess their vehicles' capabilities and, if uncertain, consider alternative transportation options or renting a suitable vehicle for the duration of the trip.

2024 Federation Retreat

Buchanan lodge will be our home base for the 2024 retreat.
Each room is shared occupancy, two to a room. If you'd like to stay with a friend, be sure to email education@artists.ca with your room share request, after making your booking.

All inclusive - $2,400
A 50% deposit of $1,200 (as reflected below) is due at time of registration with the balance due by April 30th, 2024.
CANCELLATION / REFUNDS:
- 100% refund is available until February 15th, 2024 at noon.
- Before April 30th we will be providing a 50% refund on the full retreat fee.
- After April 30th we will not be providing refunds.
- Registrations are transferable - you can gift your spot to a friend!
