2017 Annual International Mail-In Art Exhibition

2017_AIMAE_Subs_Banner

Annual open call for submissions from international artists for small artworks that can be mailed to our gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver, Canada for display and sale.

AWARDS:

First Place (1st)

$1,000

Second Place (2nd)

$500

Third Place (3rd)

$300

Two Honourable Mention Awards

$100 each

At the Federation of Canadian Artists, we realize that rising shipping costs are becoming a dominant factor that hinder artist participation in exhibitions. Especially for artists wishing to exhibit internationally.

The Answer: Create a call where artists are encouraged to submit small two-dimensional artworks, that can be delivered in an envelope to our gallery at minimal cost to the artist.

The Result? An affordable call for submission, culminating in an international exhibition of art with cash prize awards for artists.

SIZE: Every artwork that is included in this exhibition will be framed upon arrival at our gallery. The inside dimensions of these frames are 8” x 10” (20.4 cm by 25.4 cm). Your artwork must fit within these dimensions. If you are opting to matt your artwork for display, the outside dimensions of the matt must be 8” by 10”, while the inside dimensions of the mat may vary depending on the needs of your artwork. Matt must be light in colour; white, cream, beige or grey.

For members of the Federation of Canadian Artists, collecting points towards their Signature Status, this is a non-qualifying exhibition and doesn't constitute a point towards Signature Status.

Below is a PDF Call Booklet for this call. Please read it in full before submitting. Each call for submission is different. Submissions made in error will not be refunded.

Jennifer Kostuik

Kostuik Gallery

“Established 1997 in Vancouver, Canada, the Jennifer Kostuik Gallery represents mid-career and established visual artists from Canada, the USA, Japan, Mexico, Australia and The Netherlands. A selection of artists explores minimalist themes and aesthetic approaches typically based on the influence of space and nature. Their dialogue with their surrounding environments, especially the invisible, creates portrayals of beauty through composition, color, detail of material, form and light. Across a variety of media and genres, the gallery provides the context for reading the artist’s individual perspectives.”

 2017_David_Tycho

David Tycho

Artist

"David Tycho was born in Vancouver and graduated from UBC, where he studied painting under Gordon Smith. For the past 30 years, Tychos art has straddled the genres of abstraction and representation, at times more experimental and intuitive and at other times more reflective of his surroundings. His paintings are inspired by locations ranging from the Canadian wilderness to the streets of Tokyo. David has exhibited his work in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Seattle, Los Angeles, Brussels, Geneva, Singapore and Manila, and his paintings are collected worldwide".
