Peer Critique is back for an evening of in-person discussion, connection, and artistic exchange with Kit Bell, AFCA.
Join the Federation of Canadian Artists for an evening of constructive feedback, artistic growth, and community connection at our Peer Critique Community Open Studio. Hosted by senior Signature members, experienced artists and instructors, this supportive, artist-led session invites participants to bring their artwork for thoughtful discussion and critique among fellow artists.
Whether you're preparing work for exhibition, seeking a fresh perspective on a piece in progress, or looking to strengthen your practice through meaningful dialogue, this open studio provides a welcoming environment to share your work and engage with other artists.

This event is open to artists of all skill levels. Space is limited to ensure each participant has an opportunity to receive meaningful feedback. Participants are encouraged to attend the full duration of the event and contribute to the peer critique of other artists' work.
ABOUT KIT BELL, AFCA
A native of Vancouver, BC, Kit Bell has always had a passion for art, even as her initial career led her into the world of computers following her graduation from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in 1974.
In 1989, Kit seized the opportunity to shift gears, studying at the Ottawa School of Art and exhibiting her work in galleries and shows in Ottawa.
Although her artistic pursuits were briefly set aside due to a busy career in horse training and coaching after moving to Kelowna, BC in 1992, Kit returned to painting in 2007 and hasn't looked back. A versatile artist, she continuously refines her technique and artistic vision while exploring a variety of media.
A prominent figure in the artistic community, Kit is a frequent instructor for the Federation of Canadian Artists, providing critiques, mentorship, and workshops. When the pandemic necessitated a shift to online teaching, Kit adeptly leveraged her computer skills to reach a broader and more diverse audience.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
In her own words, Kit explains that her work is predominantly inspired by the tranquility of landscapes and the natural world. Her art is a response to the ever-changing effects of light and the evolving seasons. The serene beauty of quiet places, enveloped by trees and botanicals, serves as a recurring theme in her work. Her varied artistic toolkit allows her to select the optimal process for bringing a vision to life, sharing her trained artist's eye and imagination with others.
ABOUT THE FCA FACILITATOR: DIANDRA SUMMERTON
Facilitated by Diandra Summerton, Fine Art Consultant and Founder of The Art Index Collective. Diandra began her professional relationship with the Federation of Canadian Artists as a Fine Art Consultant in 2022, was honoured with the Federation's Newcomer of the Year Award in 2023, and continues to support its community through the Community Open Studio program. She is also a member of the Canadian branch of the International Watercolor Society.
