Title:
The Last Light at Nose Hill
Artist:
Yue Ma, Painter
Size:
18" x 24"
Medium:
Acrylic on paper
Description:
This work was inspired by a winter walk through Nose Hill Park in Calgary. It was a deep winter evening, and as dusk gradually settled over the landscape, only the last trace of sunlight remained along the distant horizon.
I was deeply struck by the quiet, haunting beauty of the moment—the contrast between the fading light and the cold, subdued landscape. The dry grasses, patches of old snow, and tangled shrubs seemed almost suspended in the stillness of the evening, while a final glow of sunlight lingered in the distance.
This work is my attempt to capture that fleeting moment of twilight and the quiet, slightly desolate beauty of the Calgary landscape before the last light disappears.
