Description:
Words are vehicles that allow us to share information. How, and how effectively, do we process narrative presented visually in contrast to our understanding of words? What is the essence of understanding? How effective is abstract art as a vehicle for communication?

Variations of the legend of Salmon Boy are common among West Coast Indigenous peoples. The importance of salmon is inescapable in West Coast life. At its core I interpret Salmon Boy to be a tale of morality and mortality, of respect for nature, explanations of the concept of soul and our cycle of existence.
