My octopus is a precious, magnificent, and unique creature with its crazy tentacles wrapped around an immense pearl. The image came to me when I heard a story on the radio about a dedicated octopus that sat on a huge rock waiting for her eggs to hatch, never leaving the rock to find food for herself, and was observed by researchers to have sat for 4 long years! Normally gestation lasts 14 months. In any case, the octopus and the pearl both represent to me incredible, precious and beautiful gifts from Mother Nature. (garden continues on sides of canvas)
