During the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), people covered the brick carvings with plaster in order to protect them. Not until 2005 were these ornate carvings revealed again. This gate reflects the harmony of both eastern and western styles. It was said that this house belonged to the late scholar and politician, Xu Shi Chang. This gate is located at Beijing Dong Si Liu Tiao No. 6. Watercolour on paper. 2006.
