'Board Feet' is one painting in a larger 'West Coast Ghost' Series, intended to visually express the realities of environmental changes. 'Board Feet' conceptualizes the lumber cut from the ghosting old-growth cedar tree. The viewer is invited to ask, 'what is happening' to the forests of B.C's West Coast. A horizontal grid creates internal textures alongside expressive vertical overlays. This work pays tribute to the Abstract Expressionism of Agnes Martin.
