I have nursed and painted older adults for many years. This inspiring and resilient woman has overcome many challenges during her long. She is elegant; confident yet humble. She sat for me while confronting her latest hurdle of losing her precious vision. She survived becoming a widow with young children, a new immigrant, English speaking, poor and an artist. I couldn't help but detect a shadow of resignation as the darkness leaves her nothing but memories of beauty.

This piece will not be included in the physical exhibition on Granville Island but meets the quality standards of the FCA and is classified as, "Recognized Artwork."
