Once introduced, these non-indigenous species quickly grow deep roots and dramatically alter native ecosystems. The qualities of certain spaces, like the landscapes we cherish, which gives us a sense of belonging, are becoming increasingly under threat.
Along the playas of the Oregon high desert, narrow-leaf cattails and reed canary grass frame the view. Entrenched in the alkaline soil, the vast expanse is their reward.
