Description:
As a result of the globalization of trade and transport, in the previous decades, tens of thousands of amphibians, plants, insects, fish, fungi and bacteria have moved beyond their regions of origin. Once introduced, these non-indigenous species quickly grow deep roots and dramatically alter native ecosystems. The qualities of certain spaces, like the landscapes we cherish, which gives us a sense of belonging, are becoming increasingly under threat.

Along the playas of the Oregon high desert, narrow-leaf cattails and reed canary grass frame the view. Entrenched in the alkaline soil, the vast expanse is their reward.
