Montreal is known for its distinctive houses with their wrought-iron outdoor staircases. It is the distinct shadow of the staircase cast across the solid brick mass of the building that I find most captivating. I loved the strong play of the cool blue and grey shadows against the warm sun-kissed oranges and creams of the building.
