A central figure is that of a girl, and a bawl of golden nuts as well as a squirrel in an oak tree is an allusion to her favourite fairy tale, whereby a squirrel was crunching gold nuts with kernels made of emeralds. The character's cape and the distant building behind is a nod to her mixed German-Polish heritage and love for medieval symbolism, as is the embroidered birds on her frock, (Rarog is a mythological Polish bird, a keeper of the sun).
