Description:
“Shipyard Grids” is a layered abstraction evoking the skeletal frameworks of cranes, cargo containers, and scaffolding at the water’s edge. The intersecting lines and shifting tones suggest the constant rhythm of construction and dismantling, order and chaos. Viewed from above, it recalls the bird’s-eye geometry of the shipyards — containers stacked like building blocks, cranes stretching over water, the pulse of trade beneath. This work captures the geometry of a working harbour - perhaps Vancouver’s, where ships and city meet. It is a portrait of the harbour’s hidden poetry — the beauty that rises out of grit, steel, and relentless motion. Nearly everything we touch in daily life has passed through ports like this, making the scene not only industrial but deeply personal — a reminder of our unseen connection to global tides of trade.
