This body of work is the result of an ongoing, intuitive series of paintings of my model, Diana. Each piece is created without preliminary pencil sketches, allowing the fluid nature of watercolor to dictate form, emotion, and presence. By embracing abstraction and spontaneity, I aim to capture not just likeness, but essence, floating between representation and memory.
The repetition of Diana’s face, rendered in shifting shapes and hues, reflects a ritualistic act of observation and transformation. What began as a simple study has grown into a meditative exploration of identity, connection, and the ephemeral nature of perception. The “floating head” becomes a vessel for both vulnerability and mystery, a fragment suspended in thought.
In this series, I invite viewers to pause and look beyond the obvious. Each portrait is a whisper of the same subject, yet no two are alike—mirroring how we hold onto, distort, and reimagine the people we know.
