Handmade paper on antique Canadian Atlas Legend, Drawing materials include charcoal from a bonfire, handmade walnut ink, and watercolour.
Description:
Handmade paper using leaves and seeds from the milkweed plant, pages from a vintage Canadian Atlas, and a book called weeds of Canada. Milkweed, a beautiful, tall, fragrant flower native to Canada is in decline. If this plant disappears, so does the monarch butterfly. It is critical habitat, for the butterfly can lay eggs on no other plant. This is a drawing of the legendary migration journey from BC to Mexico where the butterfly roosts to overwinter.
