In this painting, the underlying fabric represents a woven reality, that life is not separate parts. ’Fabric of Existence’ draws on philosopher Alan Watts’s insight that life is one continuous, interwoven whole. The repeated lines of tree-like forms show connection, continuity, and the relationships between individual lives and the larger field they belong to. The horizon’s lack of deep spacial recession feels less like a place we stand apart from, and more like a living structure in which we are already imbedded.
