16" x 20"

watercolor on paper

Set against a solemn and profound black background, it highlights a highly dynamic ethnic charm. In the painting, the elderly woman’s profile is marked by the wear of age, her wrinkles etched like knife cuts, deep yet serene. Vibrant green cicadas, full of life, rest upon her shoulder, while the blue cloth headscarf and intricate silver ornaments create a pleasing contrast. Within this quiet and shadowed composition, the elder and the cicadas form a silent resonance that transcends life and time, profound and timeless, serving both as a whisper to ancient days and a solemn ode to the enduring vitality of life.
