Description:
The story of this mythical animal:
The stone carving mythical animal lying under the bridge has a history of hundreds of years. The legend goes that it is the son of the dragon who is responsible for managing the river. And under its management, the flooding in Beijing has decreased. I like this stone carving because the ancient stonemason did not carve it into a majestic look but created a naughty and live way. You can see it pressing a frog in one hand and staring at the ball that fell into the river. The ball is at the water level marking line, which is used to indicate the depth of the river for the boatman.
This bridge is in the center of Beijing City. More than 700 years ago, Emperor Kublai of the Yuan Dynasty named the bridge Wanning Bridge.
The name of this bridge means to wish world peace and tranquility.
