As much as I desire to be, I'm not a glorious green-thumbed gardener and sometimes my garden is sad because of this. However, there is a determined group of scarlet poppies that grow undaunted by the dozens, planting themselves in between the other flowers, creeping into shadowy places that they shouldn't be able to survive in and growing into towering rich specimens on wispy, hairy stalks when they fine a patch of brilliant sunlight.
