Description:
In British Columbia, the potential impacts of climate change due to global warming, including wildfires are of significant concern. This painting has texture and a distinct coloured sharp horizon line, which intuitively depicts the transition between sky and water, but it also depicts a “line of fire” due to the increase in temperature and wildfires. I invite the viewer to touch the work, and I aim to convey my inner reflections and the feelings that arise as I witness the devastation on the natural environment by climate change.

Despite of the wide-spread information regarding the threat of climate change, its impact can seem distant and abstract to many people. Art can often convey what words and numbers cannot. In other parts of the world, the “arts” have been used to illustrate scientific information, to convey important environmental messages and prompt positive action by the public and governments. Consequently, I believe that art, can and must play an important role in conveying the climate action narrative and helping people and communities understand and adjust to the consequences of the changing climate
