My enchantment for the cedar tree was fostered while volunteering as a trail builder in pristine wilderness areas on the west coast in the late 1990’s. I now live in the Kootenay region where pockets of Interior Cedar Hemlock forests thrive due to its abundant snowfall and moderate temperatures. In Fernie, old growth cedars line many pathways leading you the alpine such as the Mountain Lakes Trail.
