This piece features an ancient tree perched on a small rocky hill that faces tremendous winds and storms, and has been bent and shaped through the years. Lone pines are a reoccurring theme in my paintings, as they represent strength and resilience in the face of all conditions. This tree is somewhat of a gateway to the area, which is a wild and remote part of the foothills landscape.
