Like the elephant, I will never forget my brief South African encounter with this great animal.
In my realistic style of painting I am always trying to avoid getting trapped too early in the finer details by keeping everything loose as long as possible. Creating the many wrinkles and dark shadows was crucial to balancing this composition the way I wanted it to be.
