Structure is my Muse. I favour painting houses or any structure of a certain vintage. I love the character they display. They instantly conjure up stories in my imagination with their outward personalities. Whether it be their proudly weathered exteriors, or meticulously maintained heritage and surrounding gardens. Structure is to me, what the figure or landscape is to other Artists.
I can’t recall one structure that has caught my creative eye over the years, that I could not envision putting to canvas in more than one format. This particular Craftsman is no different. When I came upon this unassuming heritage home, I was completely captivated. The sun had draped it in dramatic light and shadows. In contrast, there was an overwhelming sense of stillness, and quiet to this scene at that very moment in time. My interest was piqued with… “Quiet Curiosity”.
