Jitney – American slang for a nickel – referred to privately owned motorcars used as taxis. They plied Vancouver streets picking up passengers for a ‘nickel a ride’. Taking too much business from the streetcars, they were banned in 1918 putting many cars on the market. The gentleman shown here will assist with your purchase.
