In August 2017 I experienced a cosmic transformation. A little life was born and I was sent on a journey into motherhood. It has been a scary, humbling, and shaking experience - as significant as life and death. I was in labour for over 50 grueling hours, followed by a difficult recovery. At the same time that I became a mother, I was confronted with the death of my own mother. This sent me on a whirlwind solo trip to Russia. My Doula, Sarah Hewlett (featured) was my advocate and shining light who helped me through a difficult labour, and took care of my baby girl while I was in Russia. Sarah was an unshakable support in the cold and stormy ocean of bitter circumstances. I'm honored to capture her portrait in oil.
