English Bay Sailing captures the time between the end of summer and the beginning of fall. The sloop is anchored in Burrard Inlet on a sunny summerlike day, with voluptuous clouds hugging the North Shore Mountains and the colourful red and yellow leaves along English Bay and Stanley Park change as autumn chills the air. This painting is executed with oil paint and cold wax medium which adds body, transparency and depth to the oil paint. I apply the mixture to the wood panel with a pallet knife producing distinctive marks devoid of brush strokes but creating beautiful texture.
