Medium:
Oil on Canvas
Date:
August 2019
Description:
This artwork belongs to my History Series which has several big size oil paintings. Three of them had been exhibited in Dal Schindell Gallery in Regent College, UBC in Oct.-Nov. 2019.
This artwork was inspired by 2 historical events which are eliminating sparrows throughout the whole country 1955 and the great famine 1959-1962 in mainland China. Literally looking back the miserable history, we all feel frightening, trembling, sad and hard to talk. The artwork name was quoted from Shakespeare.
The first impression of this work is quite abstractive and fragmented even there is a realistic figure in the middle. Then the diagonal cross composition will be noticed and we can find many realistic images which are metaphors for idol worshipping, false report, hungry, barks peeling for food, killing, people eating people
This artwork was chosen to exhibit on 2019 Limitless online exhibition of FCA.
