Description:
My favourite, (in truth it is hard to choose!) of all the dabbling ducks and waterbirds in my favourite watery habitat, the Burdwood Group in the Broughton Archipelago. Monthly I participate in a two hour tour around the multitude of islands, counting and identifying all the birds I see. I send the data to the BC Coastal Waterbird Study, a citizen science database based in Delta BC. I love the birds in any case but may not have been so attentive to population shifts, nor learned so much, without this focus.
