A big challenge for the painter is to capture the light, you hear about it all the time. The particular luminosity of an ocean coast does not rely on contrast for its impact, rather it is the refraction of tiny drops of moisture suspended in the air that gives it its unique quality. Cast shadows on a low tide beach illuminate the small arching fountains of spitting clams, not only a source of food but cause for a smile on our faces as well.
