Description:
This summer, from the Southern Gulf Island Ferry in B.C., my 9 year old niece and I spotted a pod of transient Orcas. My niece grew distressed when she counted 18 boats surrounding the Orcas. Noise from commercial and non commercial vessels impacts the ability of the orcas to communicate to each other thus reducing their ability to hunt and feed. I painted the boats in a clocklike pattern to represent the loss of time for the whales to hunt/feed and bring attention to the fact that now is the time for us to educate and change in order to save these beautiful creatures before their time runs out.
