Inspired by Zen style. Paintings in this series feature a white background, from which images emerge as in the Heart Sutra (Buddhist scripture), "Form is emptiness, emptiness is form…”
The Calla Lilly is a South African native and one of the oldest flowers known to man.
The Romans associated the flower with the winter solstice. The ancient Jews considered the lily a sacred flower. In Christian iconography, the flower represents purity and chastity; it is also the symbol of resurrection. The name Calla stands for beauty in Greek and the majestic bride in He-brew.
